My year of 30-days challenges starts with the ones concerning the body. In March, I stopped eating pastries and bread, and in April, I started working out each day hoping to lose some weight and improve my overall health and wellbeing.
Continuing on my self-improvement course (and this is no new age shit, I am overweight and it’s been causing me back problems and limiting my wardrobe choices, so I had to do something!), I decided to work out every single day for a month. This coincided perfectly with having to stay indoors amid the Coronavirus outbreak and the fact that my entire family lives in the same building, 11 stories apart (me on 4th, and them on 15th floor). So, each day, I go up 11 flights of stairs and participate in a joint workout session, led by my younger sister, who is a regular gym-goer and yoga practitioner.
We change between full-body workouts (arms and abs or legs and cardio) and HIIT workouts. First ones last for 45 minutes, and the latter for about 20 minutes. I started taking pictures after each of the long workout sessions, to trace the improvement. So, far, 20 days in, I am starting to see a positive change! I must add that I started these joint workouts on March 22nd, but only every other day. From April, we work out every single day.
As you may know already, I choose a reward for each challenge finished successfully, and here’s one for April:
I thought long and hard about what my reward should be for this challenge. Since it takes a lot of effort, I wanted it to be something really special. I always wanted a suit, a colorful one, to wear at business meetings and to coordinate with jeans on some less important business occasions. I found one in Mango which I really like, but the size is not right, so I’ll just keep it as a reminder of what I’d like to buy someday and hopefully in May, as a reward for working out each day of April!
Do you think I’ll make it? ❤
