JUNE CHALLENGE | Reading an article a day

Since March of 2020, I am doing a 30-days challenge each month, to improve my health, create some good habits, and lose some of the bad ones. You can read all about my challenges in the original post where I listed all 10 that I am doing this year, and in this blog post, I am writing more about the one I am doing this June.

30 DAYS CHALLENGE FOR june 2020

I finished my studies some time ago and I actually have three master’s degrees – in sociology (2013), anthropology (2013), and economy (2016). I am also currently a Ph.D. student, and it is something which is very important to me personally, and while it won’t make any difference to my career (my dissertation is about anthropology and I work as a project manager), I want to do this for myself. Since this is something I don’t have to do, I find it hard to focus on actually doing it. So, this June, I decided to read an article a day, to help me focus more on my thesis, to learn new things about the subject (which is applied anthropology) and just to stay in touch with my favorite field – anthropology (and ethnology).

I’M ON MY SECOND YEAR OF PHD STUDIES.

These are scientific articles so it might take some time because most of them are over 20 pages long, but since I recently learned I spend over 4 hours a day on social media, I feel like there are no more excuses for not spending some time doing something good for me. And who knows, maybe someday, Croatia will have a need for applied anthropologists! No? Yeah, I get it.

And as usual, there is a reward for each challenge finished successfully and for this one, my reward is:

REWARD FOR SUCCESSFULLY FINISHING JUNE’S CHALLENGE

I don’t go by drifter for nothing – I am a travel addict, my grandparents call me gypsy, cause I’m always traveling somewhere. I’ve been to a total of 30 countries in my 30 years of life, and there isn’t a month (other than the one I spend in quarantine due to corona virus) which I spend sleeping in one place only. I am either on island Brač where I work and where I have a house, or in Split with my boyfriend, or in Zadar due to my studies, or in Zagreb for work or pleasure, and so on. I love this kind of lifestyle, even though I really like staying at home as well. One of my favorite ways to spend a weekend is traveling with my boyfriend, mostly to a town nearby – Trogir, Omiš, Šibenik. It doesn’t have to be far. So, as a reward for this month, I would like to go on a short weekend vacation in our little summer house on island Brač, where there’s no electricity or water supply, and also – no neighbors.
